ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION is used to manage peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or reflux esophagitis and its associated symptoms such as acidity, heartburn, acid reflux and pain in swallowing. It contains Pantoprazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Proton pump inhibitors.  

During management with ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION your doctor will closely monitor your kidney functions, liver functions and blood magnesium levels to avoid the risk of unwanted side effects. Before receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have weak bones or any previous history of bleeding in the gut.

Consult your doctor before receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION is pain and inflammation at the site of injection. You must also inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe tiredness with abnormal muscle movements, dizziness, confusion, disorientation and irregular heartbeat after receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION, as it could be a sign of low magnesium levels in blood.


Uses Of ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION

It is used to manage:

  • Peptic ulcer
  • Gastrointestinal Reflux disease (GERD)
  • Reflux esophagitis (inflammation of the esophagus)
  • Acidity, Heartburn, Pain in swallowing
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (tumors in pancreas causing the stomach to secrete more acid)

How ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION Works

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION reduces gastric acid secretion by the blocking the actions of a protein membrane called H+K+Atpase (proton pump) across the stomach lining. As a result, it manages the worsening of ulcers, heals the existing ulcers and esophageal lesions and provides relief from the unpleasant symptoms of GI tract (such as acidity, heartburn and acid reflux).


How to use ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION

  • It will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously)
  • Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition

Side Effects Of ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION

Common side effects of ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION:

  • benign polyps in the stomach
  • injection site reactions (pain and inflammation)
  • nausea or vomiting
  • diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, flatulence
  • dry mouth

Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION:

  • severe allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling of the lips, face or body and difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
  • signs of liver problems (yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine and tiredness)
  • severe skin reactions (redness, blistering, peeling of skin and bleeding in the lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals with fever)
  • signs of kidney problem (lower back pain, painful urination)
  • signs of low magnesium levels in blood (tiredness, abnormal muscle movements, dizziness, confusion, disorientation, irregular heartbeat)
  • uncontrollable body movements (including eye and tongue), twisted neck and abnormal body posture

Breastfeeding

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION may pass through breast milk. Therefore, it should be used in breastfeeding women only if it is considered necessary by the physician.

Driving and Using Machines

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION does not affect your ability in driving or handling heavy tools or machines.

Alcohol

Consult your doctor

Avoid consumption of alcohol while receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION, as it could aggravate your existing condition.

Kidney

Use with Caution

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with kidney problems.

Liver

Use with Caution

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION should be used with caution in patients with liver problems.

Allergy

Contraindicated

Do not receive ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Pantoprazole or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Use In Pediatrics

Contraindicated

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years).  

Use In Geriatrics

Use with Caution

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).

Others

Before receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:

  • have osteoporosis
  • have a history of bleeding in the gut
  • have vitamin B12 deficiency (sore tongue, mouth ulcers, pale skin, depression)
  • are going to test Chromogranin A level


Interactions

A. Drug-Drug interactions:

Before receiving ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you are receiving any of the following medicines such as:

  • Antifungal (Ex. ketoconazole, itraconazole and Posaconazole)
  • Anti-cancer agents (Ex. Erlotinib)
  • Anticoagulants (Ex. Warfarin and phenprocoumon)
  • Antimetabolites (Ex. methotrexate)
  • Anti-viral agents (Ex. atazanavir)
  • Antidepressants (Ex. fluvoxamine)
  • Antibiotics (Ex. rifampicin)
  • Herbal medicine (Ex. St. John’s wort)

Overdosage:

ZYLPAN 40MG INJECTION will be administered only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
