ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION is used to manage peptic ulcers, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) or reflux esophagitis and its associated symptoms such as acidity, heartburn, acid reflux and pain in swallowing. It contains Pantoprazole which belongs to the group of medicines called Proton pump inhibitors.
During management with ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION your doctor will closely monitor your kidney functions, liver functions and blood magnesium levels to avoid the risk of unwanted side effects. Before receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you have any liver, kidney or heart problems. You must also inform your doctor if you have weak bones or any previous history of bleeding in the gut.
Consult your doctor before receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. The most common side effects of receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION is pain and inflammation at the site of injection. You must also inform your doctor immediately if you experience severe tiredness with abnormal muscle movements, dizziness, confusion, disorientation and irregular heartbeat after receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION, as it could be a sign of low magnesium levels in blood.

It is used to manage:

- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome (tumors in pancreas causing the stomach to secrete more acid)
How ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION Works
ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION reduces gastric acid secretion by the blocking the actions of a protein membrane called H+K+Atpase (proton pump) across the stomach lining. As a result, it manages the worsening of ulcers, heals the existing ulcers and esophageal lesions and provides relief from the unpleasant symptoms of GI tract (such as acidity, heartburn and acid reflux).
How to use ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION
- It will be administered to you only by a doctor or a nurse into the vein (intravenously)
- Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight and disease condition
Side Effects Of ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION
Common side effects of ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION:
- benign polyps in the stomach
- injection site reactions (pain and inflammation)
- nausea or vomiting
- diarrhea, constipation, stomach pain, flatulence
- dry mouth
Contact your doctor immediately if you experience any of the following side effects after receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION:
- severe allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, swelling of the lips, face or body and difficulty in breathing or swallowing)
- signs of liver problems (yellowing of the skin and eyes, dark urine and tiredness)
- severe skin reactions (redness, blistering, peeling of skin and bleeding in the lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals with fever)
- signs of kidney problem (lower back pain, painful urination)
- signs of low magnesium levels in blood (tiredness, abnormal muscle movements, dizziness, confusion, disorientation, irregular heartbeat)
- uncontrollable body movements (including eye and tongue), twisted neck and abnormal body posture

Pregnancy

Breastfeeding

Driving and Using Machines

Alcohol

Kidney

Liver

Allergy
ContraindicatedDo not receive ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION if you are allergic to Pantoprazole or any other ingredients of this medicine.

Use In Pediatrics
ContraindicatedZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION is not recommended for use in children and adolescents (aged below 18 years).

Use In Geriatrics
Use with CautionZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION should be used with caution in elderly patients (aged 65 years and above).
Others
Before receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION, inform your doctor if you:
- have osteoporosis
- have a history of bleeding in the gut
- have vitamin B12 deficiency (sore tongue, mouth ulcers, pale skin, depression)
- are going to test Chromogranin A level
Interactions
A. Drug-Drug interactions:
Before receiving ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION inform your doctor if you are receiving any of the following medicines such as:
- Antifungal (Ex. ketoconazole, itraconazole and Posaconazole)
- Anti-cancer agents (Ex. Erlotinib)
- Anticoagulants (Ex. Warfarin and phenprocoumon)
- Antimetabolites (Ex. methotrexate)
- Anti-viral agents (Ex. atazanavir)
- Antidepressants (Ex. fluvoxamine)
- Antibiotics (Ex. rifampicin)
- Herbal medicine (Ex. St. John’s wort)
Overdosage:
ZEPOXIN 40MG INJECTION will be administered only by a doctor or a nurse in a hospital, and so it is unlikely to receive an overdose. However, consult your doctor or nurse if you experience any unusual symptoms.
